Cheick Sanankoua

Managing Partner, HC Capital Properties

Cheick Sanankoua is the Co-Founder & Managing Partner of HCCapital Properties (HCCP). Founded in 2014, HCCP is a real estate investment and development company focused on West & Central Africa. Mr. Sanankoua is responsible for the firm’s investments and business in FrancophoneWest and Central Africa and has led transactions worth ~US$450m since 2014. He is currently based in Abidjan.

Prior to HC Capital Properties, Mr. Sanankoua was an Investment Professional in theLondon office of HeliosInvestment Partners (HIP),an Africa focused private equity firm with ~$US 3 billion under management. AtHIP, Mr. Sanankoua was involved in deal sourcing, due diligence, structuring, and execution of private equity transactions as well as monitoring of HIP portfolio companies across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Mr. Sanankoua founded Omega Africa Ventures (OAV), a private investment holding company that focuses on early stage and growth equity investment in Africa.

Mr. Sanankoua started his career in investment banking in New York and London with Merrill Lynch, where he worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) group. He focused on advising major US and European clients in the consumer and retail sectors and was involved in ~$35 billion worth of transactions in M&A, Equity &Debt financing and LBOs.

Mr. Sanankoua holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from HarvardBusiness School where he was also a Rock& Lebor Entrepreneurial Fellow and received second year honors. Cheick also received a BS in Industrial Engineering from NorthwesternUniversity.

Mr. Sanankoua currently serves on the investment committee of IPAE 2, an $80million impact investment fund dedicated to SMEs based in Sub-Saharan Africa and in the Indian Ocean managed by Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P).

Mr. Sanankoua serves as non-Executive Chairman of the board of Directors of Conergies-Group, a leading air-conditioning, refrigeration and solar solutions company focused on Côte d’Ivoire and Mali, which has as its largest shareholder the $50 billion market cap French Utility company: Energy de France(EDF).

Mr. Sanankoua serves on the investment committee of Africaworks, a leading pan-African flexible workspace provider.

Mr. Sanankoua also serves a Senior Advisor on Francophone Africa for Africa Capital works, a~$200 million investment company that provides permanent equity capital to mid‐market companies across Sub‐Saharan Africa.
